Looking for a new way to cool your home? Or maybe you want a more efficient heating system so you can pay less for our brief heater use. Either way, it may be time to try something new from the conventional split system air conditioner that uses a single outdoor unit and indoor unit/air handler to send cool air through a network of ducts.
We wrote another blog post recently about some of the benefits of ductless systems, and in case you weren’t still convinced, below are some more reasons to make the plunge on this installation now!
Here in Florida, where heat and humidity are just a part of our daily life, our air conditioners run non-stop for a good chunk of the middle of the year, and sometimes for long stretches during the winter. If you are ready for a new air conditioning installation or the time for an air conditioning replacement has come, ductless may be the way to go.
Most homeowners use a central air conditioner to keep cool. That means that they use air ducts to distribute cooled air throughout their homes.
And that means that may experience duct leaks.
Leaky ductwork is a major source of energy inefficiency in countless homes. And, unfortunately, a lot of homeowners fail to realize what’s going on.
With ductless mini splits, you don’t have to worry about that. Why? They don’t use ducts! Wall-mounted blowers connect directly to the outdoor unit.
Ductless mini split improve energy efficiency in another way: they have small motors that consume much less power than the single large blower motor used in conventional split system air conditioners.
Leaky air ducts are a nightmare scenario when it comes to energy efficiency. But that is not the only issue with them. If your ducts are leaking air, then you also are just not living as comfortably as you should.
Leaky ducts can leave hot spots throughout your house. Poorly designed duct systems can do that, too. Not only does less cool air reach the room, but the drop in air pressure in the system will reduce airflow, also harming comfort.
And, if your ducts are leaking, then they can let pollutants into the ventilation system. When that happens, your AC can wind up distributing contaminants throughout the rooms of the house. That can lead to aggravated allergy and asthma symptoms.
We didn’t touch on this above when talking about how eliminating ductwork can boost energy efficiency.
Ductless mini splits, like the Mitsubishi models we offer as a Diamond Dealer, are also heating systems. We don’t use our heaters much around here, as we alluded to above. But every now and then, you will need to take the chill out of the air.
When you do, flip your ductless mini-split heat pump over to heating. Use existing heat in the air outside to heat your home. And enjoy the greatest heating efficiency available today!
